CHARITIES SUPPORTED

YEAR CHARITY
2012 For 2012, WOMAC has pledged its support to Action Against Cancer, a charity which was founded by businesswoman Hilary Craft, who has suffered with breast cancer, lung cancer and leukaemia for 13 years.
Hilary is a prolific and inspirational fundraiser and has raised nearly £500,000 for other cancer charities. Driven by her desire to continue helping other cancer sufferers, Hilary recently set up Action Against Cancer to support the development of cures at Imperial College, led by Professor Justin Stebbing, a world leading Professor of Cancer Medicine.
WOMAC will be raising money for a ‘LightCycler’, a cutting edge machine that will provide Professor Stebbing and his team with a deeper insight into the make-up of cancer-causing genes. This will allow them to develop improved tests to diagnose, and drugs to treat, breast cancer, lung cancer and pancreatic cancer. For more information please visit www.aacancer.org
2011 WOMAC has pledged its support to Beating Bowel Cancer. Founded in 1999, this is a leading UK charity for bowel cancer patients, working to raise awareness of symptoms, promote early diagnosis and encourage open access to treatment choice for those affected by bowel cancer. It is committed to improving bowel cancer awareness amongst both the medical profession and the general public. The charity provides authoritative information about the disease, its symptoms, what to do if diagnosed, and what treatment choices are available to you. It encourages people to communicate frankly about all aspects of this disease, and not to be embarassed to talk about bottoms and bowels! For more information please visit www.beatingbowelcancer.org
