WOMAC is funding four patients to attend day hospice one day a week for six months. Phyllis Tuckwell was a local mother of three who was diagnosed with cancer in 1949. Since the Hospice named in her honour was opened in 1979, in Farnham in Surrey more than 6000 local people facing a terminal illness have been cared for at the Hospice and in their homes. A wide range of specialist services are available to patients. A typical patient's day will include time with a nurse and doctor, with support from the rest of the clinical team to learn how best to manage at home.
