Best Of Three

Our third annual patrons’ evening, held at the smart Key West hotel near Shepherd’s Bush completed a hat trick of well attended and fun social parties.

Patrons from all over the motor industry and motorsport met for a few drinks, a lot of chat and a tasty buffet on November 18, 2003. The event was organised by Andrea Baker and patron co-ordinator Sue Loy, and the fee paid by the patrons included a donation to WOMAC.

Our new chairman for 2003-2004, Janet Wilkinson, made her maiden speech, thanking the patrons for all their hard work over the last year and urging us on to raise even more next year, even though we know that company budgets have been cut to the bone. In response, plenty of ideas for raising funds and improving communications were discussed throughout the night.

Janet says: ‘It was fantastic that so many patrons were able to find time to come, and the committee is very grateful to all those who have worked so hard throughout the year.’

Everyone was also delighted to see Candy Watson, who suffered appalling head injuries after a fall from a horse at the beginning of the year. Although still requiring more surgery, Candi has made a remarkable recovery and has been back running her motorsport catering business since June.

WOMAC is always looking for new patrons who can bring in money from areas of the industry as yet untouched, or who can bring in funds from outside motoring. If you can help us, please e-mail Sue Loy on Sue_Loy@ipcmedia.com.
